Featured in the New York Times and WNPR, and sought after for both their command on the concert stage and comfort in the classroom, the Haven String Quartet (HSQ) has been hailed as “New Haven’s resident string quartet.” Its four members represent the nation’s top conservatories and bring world-class
chamber music to the region each year through their full season of recitals, workshops, and impromptu pop-up performances.
As the permanent quartet-in-residence of Music Haven, the Haven String Quartet spearheads a nationally-recognized, free after-school lessons program for more than 80 students from New Haven’s most under-served neighborhoods.
“Violinists Yaira Matyakubova and Gregory Tompkins, violist Annalisa Boerner and cellist Philip Boulanger performed with a youthful zest, yet with real musical understanding and refinement.”
