The Legendary Derrick May, one of the greatest living figures in electronic music, plays Glasgow's massive
Born in Detroit 1963, May met the other founding fathers of techno, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, while he was a teenager studying at Belleville High School. Inspired by European electronic sounds and black American dance music, May, Atkins and Saunderson become known as the ‘Belleville Three’.
May’s earlyr ecordings as Rhythim is Rhythim and Mayday exemplified this vision, and remain iconic three decades later-‘Nude Photo’, ‘The Dance’, ‘It Is What It Is’, ‘Illusion’ (as R-Tyme), and best-loved of all, 1987’s ‘Strings of Life’, a piece of music so wild and unconventional and yet so exquisite and compelling that it has become an all-time classic dancefloor anthem.
IDA - Ida runs her 303 themed night Acid Flash in La Cheetah and plays regularly for the notorious Pressure. Finland born IDA has cultivated a distinctive sound around Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. IDA’s squelchy, acidic and retro beats have found her playing alongside Gerd Janson, Heidi, Courtesy & Rodhad. This year IDA is playing alongside big hitters at Riverside Festival and recently headlined at Sub Culture.
Bosco & Rob Mason - Both have been djing since the 80's where they cut their teeth on the Acid House and Warehouse parties of late 80's and early 90's. Residents at Lets Go Back they recently sold out the 1500 capacity SWG3 on their own with no guests.
'Eclectic' is what we would call their dj sets, but the two will be turning to their love of techno for this one.
Alan MacPherson - Alan has been running nights in Inverness since 2004 and has played with some massive names in the music industry such as Funk D’void, Phil Kierin, Justin Robertson, James Lavelle, Altern-8, Harvey McKay, Tom Middleton, Dave Clarke, Mark Archer, Slam, Gary Beck, Harri & Domenic, Octave One, A Guy Called Gerald, Jon Desilva, Mr. C, Vitalic and is now resident DJ at TECHnique.
