Yin Yoga & Energy – Meridians, Meditation & Pranayama is a 50-hour training for Yin teachers who have completed a 200-hour training and wish to deepen their understanding of the more subtle energy aspects of Yin practice.

Yin yoga is an advanced yoga practice because it requires the practitioner to

stay still for 3-10 minutes or more in a pose. Staying still with a quiet mind amidst the discomfort of holding a Yin shape is for many of us more challenging than moving our body in a regular vinyasa class. This being so, the physical practice of Yin yoga is only the starting point of the practice. What is interesting about Yin is to notice what happens to our inner world when we are in a shape, to find ways to train the heart/mind to be present and to direct the breath to and balance the flow of chi in the body.

We will look at meridian theory, the philosophy of Taoist yoga, breathing techniques and meditation to find new ways to deepen our practice. We will study the meridians to understand how certain poses pull on different energy lines and how we can structure a practice to target a specific meridian pair. We will deepen our understanding of how the practice stimulates chi flow and how this affects our organ health and general well-being on an emotional as well as a physical level.
